Although a stub end is basically a part of a flange, stub ends are used in conjunction with a lap joint flange. However, since the component i.e. stub end dimensions have been covered under standard ASME B16.9, they are considered to be a part of fittings intended to be used in piping system. In a piping system that makes use of a lap joint flange, the ASME B16.9 Stub End is butt welded to the pipe. This leaves the flange to freely move over the welded stub end. This kind of flange-fitting arrangement proves to be beneficial to the end-user. Firstly, the lap joint flange used is of a lower alloy grade as compared to the material used to produce the stub end and the pipework.

Carbon Steel Stub End
Thus leading to savings in not only the cost, but also the total weight of high alloy material grade used for the flanged joint. We are leading Stub End Manufacturer in India. Another benefit is that the arrangement is easy to align due to the rotation of the lap joint flange on the pipe along with the simplification of the alignment of the bolt holes to its mating flanges. Carbon Steel Stub End has started to become popular for its use in high pressure piping systems as opposed to their use in the past for low pressure applications. Since the stub end fittings are to be welded, stainless steel grades that have a controlled carbon content are preferred for its manufacture. For instance, predominantly alloy grades 304L and 316L, where L indicates a low content of carbon are used to produce the Stainless Steel Long Neck Stub End.
