ASME B16.5 Pipe reducer Flanges are generally produced by a Reducing Flanges Manufacturer between the size range of NPS 1/2 through NPS 24 Metric/Inch. The standard used by them is the ASME B16.5 which covers several points such as materials, dimensions, marking, testing, tolerances, pressure-temperature ratings, and methods of designating openings for pipe flanges like the ASME B16.5 Reducing flange and flanged fittings. Besides these points, the ASME B16.5 standard also includes requirements and recommendations regarding the flange bolting, flange gaskets, as well as flange joints.

Stainless Steel Reducing flanges
Carbon Steel Reducing flanges
Reducing Flanges are a type of fittings that are used to change the size of a pipe in a system. Although the Reducing flange fittings are known to be suitable for changing the line size, these flanges ideally should not be used if the application frequently shows signs of an abrupt transition. An abrupt transition would create unwanted turbulence, as at pump connections. A Carbon steel reducing flange consists of a flange with one specified diameter that has a bore of a different and smaller, diameter. With the exception of the bore and hub dimensions, these flanges will have dimensions of the larger pipe size. Applications for the stainless steel reducing flange involve being used in industries such as oil field, off-shore and water system, shipbuilding, power plants and in industrial vessels.
