The ASME B16.5 is a standard which wraps several parameters used in the production of pipe flanges and flanged fittings. These parameters include pressure-temperature ratings, materials used, dimensions, tolerances, marking, test procedures, as well as methods of designating openings for these flanges. According to this standard, the rating class designations for the ANSI b16.5 Stainless Steel Screwed flanges includes the following classes – 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500. The size range for the ASME B16.5 Jacked screwed flange ranges between NPS 1/2 through NPS 24. The size requirements in the ASME B16.5 standard has been given in both metric and U.S units. The ASME B16.5 is a standard that is limited to flanges and flanged fittings made from cast or forged materials, along with blind flanges as well as certain kinds of reducing flanges manufactured from forged, cast, or plate materials. This Standard also includes requirements and recommendations with regards to flange gaskets, flange bolting, and flange joints.

Carbon Steel Screwed flanges
screwed flange is similar to a Slip-On flange, the difference is that a Carbon Steel screwed flange is constructed with threads inside the flange bore. These threads are designed such that they fit on a pipe which has a matching male thread on itself. The Alloy Steel Screwed pipe flange is used to form a Speedy and simple connection. However, these flanges are not suited to be used for high pressure and elevated temperature applications. Which is why these screwed flanges are preferred for use in utility services such as air and water. Since the Stainless Steel Screwed flange can be assembled without welding, these components are highly recommended for use in low pressure applications at ambient temperatures, as well as in highly explosive conditions where welding can create a hazard.
