Stainless Steel alloy 317 was designed to be a higher tensile strength alternative to marine grade alloy 316 stainless steel. Comprised of higher contents of elements chromium, nickel and molybdenum, fittings made from stainless steel grade 317 tend to be more corrosion resistant as compared to alloy 316, and even tougher than the conventionally used stainless steel grade 304. This is also due to the high percentage of iron in the chemistry of Stainless Steel 317 Pipe Fittings , which is relatively much higher as opposed to several other stainless steel grades. This combination of iron with the alloying of chromium-nickel-molybdenum content yields a strong, yet hard alloy. Speaking of working capability, all traditional welding, hot working and cold working practices can be applied to the specified ASTM A403 WP317 Pipe Fittings.
Stainless Steel 317 Pipe Fittings
ASTM A403 WP317L Elbow
ASME SA403 WP317 Pipe Cap
This alloy will only work harden under cold working, which will also increase the tensile strength of the ASTM A403 WP317L Elbow. When this stainless steel grade is to be heat treated, it is recommended that the temperature must not fall below 1700°F as this is the threshold for response. Stainless steel A403 WP317L Tee fittings are commonly found in the textile industry. The textile industry benefits from using these fittings due to the alloys superior tensile strength and corrosion resistance properties. Other applications of the ASTM A403 specified 317L Stainless Steel Pipe Bend include the manufacturing of chemical equipment as well as the machines used in the pulping of paper.
