Due to a higher content of element nickel used in the alloying of 70/30 Cuni, the fittings produced from this alloy grade are much more expensive as compared to grade Cupro Nickel 90/10 Elbow. Fittings made from copper nickel 90/10 alloy could be welded using ant of the following techniques spot welding, coated metal arc welding, gas shielded arc welding, butt welding, oxyacetylene welding, brazing, soldering as well as seam welding processes. Although 70/30 copper nickel Union fittings are used to form connections across piping systems, a specific set of fittings could be used to change the direction of the flow. For instance, tees, crosses and elbows are used to bring about a change in direction.
Copper Nickel Forged Fittings
Cupro Nickel 90/10 Socket Weld Elbow
Cuni 70/30 Threaded Union
While tees and crosses are angled at 90 degrees, an elbow could be produced in three angles i.e 22.5, 45 and 90, unless the buyer specifies a particular requirement. Grade UNS C70600 Threaded Fittings provides excellent corrosion resistance properties, especially in marine or saltwater environments. Hence, these 70/30 copper nickel fittings are preferred for use in the marine engineering industry. Typically, grade UNS C70600 or Copper Nickel Forged Fittings are used in those applications where conventional stainless steel grades cannot be used due to being susceptible to chloride stress related corrosion cracking along with other parts that require high levels of resistance to corrosion.
