Nickel-Copper alloy components such as flanges are manufactured keeping in accordance with specification ASTM B564. This high performing nickel-copper based alloy demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance properties in a wide variety of media. Monel 400 flange is a device used to connect piping systems to either pipes, valves or pumps due to their superior resistance to seawater and steam. The alloy’s resistance to both marine environments as well as steam is noted at high temperatures in addition to salt and caustic solutions. The ability of Monel 400 Flanges to exhibit superior corrosion resistance to both rapidly flowing brackish water and seawater due to the content of copper in their alloy. Hence, most applications involving marine engineering prefer using the ASTM B564 specified DIN 2.4360 Spectacle Flange.

Flanges produced from Monel 400 tend to exhibit excellent resistance to chloride ion stress related corrosion cracking. Apart from being characterized by good general corrosion resistance, the repertoire of ASME SB564 Monel 400 Lap Joint Flange properties includes superior weldability and moderate to high tensile strength, which is why they are widely used in the chemical, oil and marine industries. Moreover, these flanges have good resistance to sulfuric acid and show particularly good resistance characteristics when they are used in applications involving hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids in a de-aerated condition. Monel 400 is slightly magnetic at ambient temperature. Although the ASTM B564 UNS N04400 Blind Flange could be used in the handling of hydrochloric acid, but in the presence of oxidizing salts, the Alloy 400 Slip On Flange will go into a highly accelerated corrosive attack state.
