Alloy grades 200 and 201 are known as commercially pure nickel alloys since they only contain trace amounts of elements such as carbon, copper, manganese, silicon etc. These solution strengthened alloys are highly ductile, which makes forming or shaping operations relatively easy. Apart from being highly ductile, Nickel Alloy Forged Fittings, as expected have the ability to withstand high temperatures. However, the varying carbon content will determine this property. For instance, nickel 200 is an alloy that contains a higher content of carbon. Hence, it cannot be used at a temperature above 600 °F, especially if the application demands that the Nickel Alloy 200 Socket Weld Elbow be welded.

ASTM B564 UNS N02200 Threaded Fittings
At temperatures exceeding 600 °F, nickel 200 fittings are prone to graphitization which in turn could result in the fittings properties getting compromised. On the other hand, alloy 201 fittings can be used up to a temperature of 1230° F. This is because ASTM B564 UNS N02200 Threaded Fittings tends to resist graphitization since the alloy used to make these fittings have a carbon controlled chemical composition. Thus making these fittings less vulnerable to embrittlement caused due to intergranular precipitates between a temperature range of 600° F to 1400° F. The ASTM B564 UNS N02200 Forged Fittings offers superior corrosion resistance in a range of neutral as well as moderately reducing environments in addition to being resistant to oxidizing atmospheres. Under the ASTM B564 specification, the UNS N02200 fittings are required to conform to the testing methods, mechanical property as well as chemistry requirements.
