A flange is essentially a device that aids a user to form connections. Generally, flanges are used as a means to connect either equipment, pipes, valves or pumps. Depending on the functionality of these flanges, they could be welded or they could be screwed. Since grade 2 is a titanium alloy that has good weldability properties, very often Titanium Grade 2 Pipe flanges are utilized in those applications where welding is deemed to be inconceivable. In addition to being a lightweight alloy, titanium grade 2 flanges tend to be highly corrosion resistant. Although grade 2 flanges are considered to be strong, their tensile strength is a property that is much lower in comparison to either beta titanium alloys to or alpha-beta alloys such as Titanium gr. 5 Flanges. Titanium Gr 5 Blind Flange is used in high pressure applications to either block off or to seal a section of pipes and nozzles located on a vessel that is not used.

Usually referred to as a hubbed Flange, slip-on flanges are relatively easy to recognize due to their slim and compact shape. UNS R50400 Slip on Flanges is a device thas a hole with matching outside diameter or OD of the pipe. The pipe can pass through the hole of the flange. Since grade 2 is an alloy that exhibits superior weldability properties, Titanium flanges manufacturers often direct their users to this alloy as slip-on flanges are often fillet welded from both inside and outside.
