Titanium alloys belonging to grades 1 – 4 are unalloyed, thus they are referred to as commercially pure titanium grades. Stronger in comparison to grade 1, the most used fitting Titanium grade 2 Elbow has higher tensile strength while permitting for a change in the direction of flow of media. Although grade 2 is slightly superior to grade 1 in terms of tensile strength properties, the corrosion resistance properties, on the other hand, are similar to each other. This being said, the tensile strength properties of alpha-beta alloys such as grade 5 is much higher than the commercially pure grade 2 titanium. This is because the alloy of titanium grade 5 contains much higher alloying content, making it tougher and stronger.

Titanium grade 2 socket weld fittings
Titanium Forged Fittings is a fitting that can be used to join together two pipes which could be detached in the future without the occurrence of any deformation to the pipes during its detachment from the fitting. In general, Titanium grade 5 Threaded fittings, which is one of the oldest techniques of joining pipes are used in the connection of systems, where the nominal diameter of these pipes is either NPS 2 or smaller. Similar to threaded fittings, Titanium grade 2 socket weld fittings are used in piping systems whose nominal diameter is either 2 NPS or smaller, where they are inserted into a recessed area of a valve or a flange. Both grade 5 and grade 2 Titanium forged fittings have superior welding properties. Hence, they are considered well suited for applications that require welding e.g. aerospace engineering.
